The little white spot in the near center of this picture is the Reef RV park, taken from the west on top of black mountain (condo high rises are closer today). I like the Reef as it's out of town, great location for quad riding which we do, and almost every site has a view of the water. If you prefer to walk around to some shops etc, other parks would be better suited such as Playa Bonita. Quad riding in/out of the Reef is speed controlled, so don't worry about someone flying thru the site creating noise and dust issues. It's also close to Cholla Bay & JJ's Cantina, one of our favorite "hole in the wall" stops for some Mexican food and a margurita.

We have gone down there for several winters now. We dry camp on the beach adjacent to The Reef RV Park for $5/day. Once a week we suck in the slides and waddle down the beach to The Reef for a $7 dump and fill, usually grabbing quick showers while dumping. The beaches are great, the people are nice, and it's only about 65 miles of good road from Likeville, AZ. There is a big supermarket (Ley's) in town. You can use either dollars or pesos most places. The cash registers in Ley's even switch over to dollars if you tell the clerk you are paying in dollars. We really like Puerto PeƱasco. It's easy, safe, and fun.

Go there every year. Was there this year for February. Easy border crossing at Lukeville. Puerto Penasco is less than 80 miles from the border. Good road. Good weather. Good food. 4 or 5 rv parks. I drive a 40ft dp pulling a chevy. Easy drive to P.P. We stay at the Reef RV park. 30 and 50 amp service. Full hookups. Restaurant, laundry. Dry camping nearby. Good food. Friendly people. English spoken but it helps to try out the local lingo. Beautiful beaches.Nice walking on beach. Good food. Almost more Canadians than U.S. folks. Vendors on the beach.Schrimp, seafood. The Reef , large rv spots Right on the beach. Other parks like Playa Bonita and Playa Del Oro. Fairly nice. A bit smaller on rv spots. Good food. Many claim its not the real Mexico, but its enough Mexico for me. (good food)

Showed up last year at Puerto Penasco without reservations. Less than a hundred miles over the border. Easy crossing. Stayed a month at the Reef RV park. Paid $500.00 for the month. Wasn't too bad for us. Plenty of space last year. "americanized" ? English spoken and the dollar is used alot but lotsa Canadians too. Number of parks are dwindling quickly as the high rises go up. Some say that Puerto Penasco isn't the true Mexico but the Mexicans living there disagree and its enough Mexico for me.

The Reef RV ParkThe Reef RV park is located in Camino la Cholla KM 7.5. It is at the end of the main resorts on Sandy Beach. It has a great restaurant on site called "The Reef" very popular for its seafood. We get a lot of good reviews on this restaurant. It is definitely worth trying. The restaurant is open daily from 8am to 11pm with a great list of dining selections. The Reef RV Parks offers a large list of amenities: open year round, laundry, security, pets allowed, showers, bar and dance club, mini market, tent camping and many more amenities. You have a choice of an ocean view ($) or beachfront spot ($$). They also have large spaces that are also for rent (26X40).Phone#: 011-52-638-383-0650

Hi everyone,
It looks like you haven't been here over the summertime Mike. Hopefully we will see you this fall Wi-Fi is now free if you are staying in the park. You will just need to get your user/password when you check-in
Keep the great ideas coming in everyone.

"the reef", is the free Wi-Fi, available to both sides of the park? During the summer we stay at the RV park, because we run the A/C a lot, but during the winter months we like to stay at the "$5" side, because of the freedom to park anyway you want and being able to have large get togethers w/ local family, during the winter Holidays. We love this place, and having Wi-Fi, just makes it even better! Thx!
